Festival de Cap Roig

El Festival de Cap Roig es celebra a l'estiu (Juliol-Agost), sent l'esdeveniment més important de la Costa Brava. La direcció i producció artística de Cap Roig porta cada any grans noms de la música i la dansa al castell i el jardí botànic.

L'any 2007, el diari britànic The Independent el va posicionar 2n en una llista dels 10 millors festivals d’estiu. La 17a edició, celebrada el 2017, va batre el rècord d'assistència amb 46.316 espectadors, els quals van exhaurir les entrades de 20 dels 27 concerts programats.

Els orígens del castell i del jardí botànic de Cap Roig, lloc on se celebra el festival, es remunetn a l'any 1927. Van ser construïts i dissenyats pel coronel rus Nicolai Woevodsky, aficionat al dibuix i a l'arquitectura, i per la seva esposa Dorothy Webster, aristòcrata anglesa, decoradora i aficionada a l'arqueologia i a la jardineria. Aquesta parella van deixar la seva vida a Londres per construir el seu somni en aquest paratge únic situat al costat del mar.

The Cap Roig Festival is held in summer (July-August), being the most important event on the Costa Brava. The direction and artistic production of Cap Roig carries every year great names of music and dance in the castle and the botanical garden. In 2007, the British newspaper The Independent ranked 2nd in a list of the top 10 summer festivals. The 17th edition, celebrated in 2017, beat the attendance record with 46,316 spectators, which exhausted the tickets for 20 of the 27 scheduled concerts.

The origins of the Cap Roig’ Castle and its Botanical Gardens date back to 1927, when Russian Colonel Nicolai Woevodsky, who was keen on drawing and architecture, and his wife, the English aristocrat Dorothy Webster, decorator and amateur archeologist and gardening, left behind her court life in London to settle down and make true her fondest dream in this unique place located in a special enclave by the sea. A place prevailing in nature and calm.
